Working in Nature at Sudarshanaloka

Giving back to the land

Tree fern

We have been experimenting with these weekend formats for a few years now. And, after the success of our last event, we think we've found something that people really engage with. Come and join us, and enjoy some outdoor activity with like-minded people. The bonus is that you will also be contributing to Sudarshanaloka in a playful, meaningful, and effective way.

The first weekend will be led by Erica, Ratnavyuha and Akasamati. As well as clearing some of the tracks, there will be a range of other projects to work on depending on the need at that time. These could include such things as building a new campsite, working on the road gang (with scrubber and shovels), upgrading one of the solitary cabins (inside and outside jobs) etc. It would be lovely to have you join us, and you can choose something to suit your skills, fitness and inclination. All efforts welcomed.

If you just want to stay for the weekend, this part will finish at 2pm on Sunday 15th. Or, stay on for another four days, when we'll take our projects further. This part will finish 2pm on Thursday 19th. A four day retreat for Triratna Order members and mitras starts on the Thursday evening. If you wish to stay on for this retreat please book separately here, otherwise just make a note when booking for Working in Nature how many (and which) days you are attending.

Food will be provided at a cost of $30 for the weekend, and $15 for each extra night. Accommodation is free though a donation to help with keeping the retreat centre running would be much appreciated.

Extra opportunities will include a 7am meditation sit each morning and a movie on Saturday night.

If you have loppers, hedge clippers, shovels, gardening implements or any tools you think could be useful, please bring them along. Come and spend time in nature working with like-minded people.
