Tonight we have a special celebration, with Diane, Kim and Marlies becoming mitras within our worldwide Triratna Buddhist Community.
Simply put, mitra (a Sanskrit word) means friend. But choosing to become a mitra is a step in deepening one's commitment to the Buddhist life. Marlies, Kim and Diane are declaring themselves to be Buddhist, and each making a provisional commitment to deepening their practice within this particular Buddhist tradition and its system of practice. Commitment is a necessary condition for integration and greater depth.
The evening will take the format of a brief talk, a three-fold puja (ritual) and a celebratory supper. Please bring a plate of finger food (eg cake, biscuits, fruit) if you're able.
Wednesday nights are a place for people to come together and celebrate community, deepen their knowledge of Buddhism, and their understanding of how to practice it. They are designed for those who have been coming to the centre for a little while. If you have had minimal contact with us, you are best to attend our Intro courses on Tuesday evenings first.
By donation (suggested $15). (Cash or EFTPOS)
Nothing to spare tonight? Come along anyway. You’re always welcome.
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
