Order Members and Mitras

Portrait of Order Members and Mitras

Triratna Order Members are members of our spiritual community who have made a commitment, known traditionally as Going for Refuge, to keeping the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha central in their lives. They have been well trained and seen by others in the Order as being effective in their commitment.

The Sanskrit word ‘Mitra’ simply means ‘friend’. A Mitra is a person who has deepened their friendship and commitment to the Triratna Buddhist Order. They have made a ‘provisional’ commitment to practising the Dharma within the Triratna Buddhist Community.
