Poetry and meditation retreat

Merging Streams

Stream flows

My mind is like the autumn moon
clear and bright in a pool of jade.
Nothing can compare.
What more can I say?

Join us over the King's Birthday weekend as we explore together the poems of the T’ang Poets Han Shan and Tu Fu.

The poems of Han Shan, also known as ‘Cold Mountain’ after the cave he chose as his home, traverse a wide range of subjects from the nature of human existence and the poet’s search for spiritual enlightenment and peace, to incomparable descriptions of the natural world in which he lived.

Tu Fu, also known as Du Fu, is considered to be one of the greatest poets of the Tang dynasty. Often described as a poet-historian, his poems convey the emotional impact and importance of political and social issues as well as reflect a range of moods and experience.

We will also have the opportunity to enter into the spirit of play through expressing our responses to nature in the form of haiku.

There will be periods of reflection, discussion, writing, meditation, silence and ritual all amidst the wild natural beauty of Sudarshanaloka, warmed by wood stoked radiators and nourished by good company.

Suitable for newcomers as well as those with experience in our tradition.
