Retreat refund policy

For residential retreats

Piece of paper with the word cancel on it in a typewriter

The refund policy for cancelled bookings on residential retreats is:

  • Bookings cancelled 8 weeks or more before the start of the retreat are eligible for a 90% refund
  • Bookings cancelled between 2 and 8 weeks before the start of the retreat are eligible for a 50% refund
  • Bookings cancelled less than two weeks prior to the start of the retreat are NOT eligible for a refund

There are going to be, of course, special circumstances. For example, we may make adjustments to the policy for situations beyond your control (such as injury, illness or bereavement). Please talk to us if you have any concerns by emailing info@aucklandbuddhistcentre.org

Why we have this policy

We understand that plans can change, and that the conditions of life sometimes force this upon us. However, we need to balance that reality against the impact of late cancellations. These include people on waitlists missing out on retreats as others cancelled their bookings too late in the piece, administrative costs, and the impact on a retreat itself, the ABC and Sudarshanaloka when retreats only have partial occupancy despite having waitlists. Some costs (eg food and in some cases minimum accommodation or cleaning rates) are incurred in advance of retreats, and these do need to be covered.

What if the ABC cancels the retreat?

In the unlikely event that we cancel a retreat, you will be eligible for a full refund.

What about non-residential retreats at the centre?

You will be eligible for a refund less a $30 admin fee if you cancel within 24 hours of the start of the retreat.

In special circumstances (eg illness, accidents, bereavements) we may be able to waive the administration fee.
