Our annual King's Weekend Birthday retreat is happening at Bella Rakha Retreat Centre in Oratia, West Auckland.
This is always a fantastic opportunity to come together in larger numbers across the long weekend and practice the Dharma. It's a cosy winter retreat that's also usually rather fun!
Expect a programme of meditation, Dharma talks, discussion and ritual. And opportunities to spend time getting to know each other better.
The theme this year is 'Building the Buddha Land'. We'll be about six weeks away from returning to a completely refurbished centre. Functional, versatile spaces that work for us are great. But the centre is really all about people, our practice and how we are with each other.
So we'll be looking at what it takes to create a 'Buddha Land' in the midst of Auckland, particularly looking at four areas we can develop to bring together and sustain a healthy community: giving of ourselves, affectionate speech, beneficial activity and exemplification or bringing the best out of each other. Traditionally these are known as the four samgrahavastus.
Open to those currently coming along to Sangha Night, mitras, Order members and those who have completed our introductory course. If you're not sure, ask us!
Cash (internet banking / EFTPOS / cash): $300 / $350 / $400
Credit card: $309 / $361 / $412
Self-select your rate depending on payment method and your circumstances. The low rate covers our basic costs, the mid rate helps support a team member's accommodation costs and the high rate gives a little extra to the centre so we can help others get on retreat.
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
