Join us for this non-residential weekend event over Labour Weekend (you'll still have the Monday holiday free to rest).
…’the unenlightened state of dissatisfaction and muddle that we call dukkha is the outcome of our past failure to act skilfully, and if we are ever to eradicate that dukkha, we shall have to become skilful in whatever conduces to that end. We shall have to undertake the appropriate training. This is how Buddhism works: it is a matter of training, a practical development of skills that will help you move towards your ultimate goal or good. And it begins when you become aware that there is some higher good or goal to realize…’ - Sangharakshita
Over a day and a half we'll look more closely at the statement above, identifying the conditions that create dissatisfaction and muddle in our minds, and how we can create different conditions to free ourselves from these states. We hope you'll leave with a clearer sense of what we mean by 'dukkha' in Buddhism, how to recognise it in your own mind, and some practical takeaways that will help you sow karmic seeds for greater clarity, ease and joy.
Open to all regulars at the centre, and those who practice the mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana meditations.
Please bring a contribution towards a shared vegetarian lunch on Sunday.
