Each year we mark the birth of Urgyen Sangharakshita (Bhante) with a special 108-year puja.
Bhante founded the Triratna Buddhist Community and the Triratna Buddhist Order. This puja honours the community of spiritual friends and the presentation of the Dharma which Bhante gifted us. No Bhante, no Auckland Buddhist Centre!
5.30pm - Soup before the puja (RSVP by 27 August if you want to join us for soup so we can prepare enough - email info@aucklandbuddhistcentre.org)
6.30pm - Puja begins. All welcome (no need to RSVP for this part of the evening)
Every year since 2004 we have this collective ritual across the worldwide Triratna Buddhist Community that not only celebrates our founding teacher's birthday but also marks the continual changes going on within our community.
It is a timeless ritual marking the passing of time, recording those changes through Sangha photographs and signatures in an anniversary log book: a log-book of a community over 108 years.
Free or by koha.
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
