Working in Nature at Sudarshanaloka

giving back to the land

Tree fern

We have been experimenting with these weekend formats for a few years now. And, after the success of our last event, we think we might have found something which people enjoy and also contributes to the Sudarshanaloka project. One aim is to engage with the maintenance of the land at Sudarshanaloka in a playful, meaningful, and effective way. Another aim of the weekend is to spend time with other like-minded people who enjoy contributing back to the land.

This weekend will be led by Erica and Natalie. Erica will decide on the actual tasks closer to the weekend, but the basic idea is to work together in small groups to maintain the trails and bush areas. This usually involves clearing overgrowth (loppers or slashers or secateurs), sometimes building steps or such, and we have also spent time marking tracks more clearly.

To complement the weekend, we have a morning meditation, evening puja, and meet for shared meals (including our Saturday lunchtime out in the bush).

The $30 cost of the weekend goes towards food. Accommodation is free in exchange for work we are doing on the land, but if you can contribute $50 towards Sudarshanaloka that would be very appreciated.

Please note Ratnavyuha can no longer attend this weekend and Natalie will be taking his place.
