Welcoming new Order members

In the context of Buddha Day

Buddha Dharma and Sangha jewels on a kesa

It seems apt to combine the annual Buddha Day festival - a joyous celebration of the Buddha's enlightenment - with the joyous celebration of the ordinations of three women from the Auckland centre.

Taradhi (ex-Annette), Vimoksajyoti (ex-Olivia) and Viryashuri (ex-Marian) were ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order at Sudarshanaloka recently. Today we formally welcome them back to the centre as Order members, with much joy.

The format of the event will be a little different than you may be used to. The afternoon will be held in the overall frame of an extended ritual, including short talks on the significance of Buddha Day and the significance of ordination, introductions to our three new Order members and a 20 minute break mid-way through for tea and treats.

Please arrive by 2.20pm to get yourself settled in the shrine room for a prompt start at 2.30pm.

Please bring a plate to share.
