The Five Skandhas retreat

Triratna Order mitra retreat

buddhainfield

The Five Skandhas retreat aims at practically developing the awareness of our experience viewed from the perspective of the Buddha’s teaching. The Five Skandhas is a teaching of the Buddha that extends through all the schools of Buddhism root and branch, revealing the conditioned nature of our existence.

With regard to the Skandhas, relinquishment from grasping through contemplating the impermanent nature of the aggregates is of such significance that according to the Buddha, direct knowledge of the arising and passing away of the five aggregates is sufficient qualification for the development of wisdom. Not only that but contemplation of the five aggregates is capable of leading to all stages of awakening, and is still practiced even by awakened ones.

The retreat will entail getting to grips with the five skandhas in quite a straightforward practical way in the context of nature. We will go about this through meditation, with contemplation and reflection in nature, developing an awareness of what the Five Skandhas are in terms of our direct experience of life as we find ourselves in the present moment.

For all Order members and mitras wanting to immerse themselves in an open-hearted exploration of The Five Skandhas.
