We continue our look at the Brahma Viharas, which literally translates at "Divine Abidings". These are a series of practices that includes metta (loving kindness), karuna (compassion), mudita (sympathetic joy) and upeksha (equanimity)
Tonight Suvarnadhi shares her thoughts and experience of karuna (compassion). Most of us have a sense of the benefits of compassion (to us and others), but we often might find it difficult to access, especially when other emotions such as fear, aversion or anger get in the way. And can we always be compassionate without harming ourselves? How do we find the balance of maintaining self-compassion?
Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community, deepen their knowledge of Buddhism, and their understanding of how to practice it. They generally include a talk and discussion, a social cup of tea and meditation.
