The Brahma Viharas - Metta

Community pictures

In this new series, we are looking at the Brahma Viharas, which literally translates at "Divine Abidings". These are a series of practices that includes metta (loving kindness), karuna (compassion), mudita (sympathetic joy) and upeksha (equanimity)

Tonight we welcome Matthew who, following a very brief introduction on the Brahma Vihara theme from Sthiraratna, will share with us the way he practices metta. Loving kindness is something most of us have some understanding of and feeling for, but each of us experiences it a little differently, and hearing from others allows the possibility of connecting with our own emotional states and processes in a subtly different way.

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community, deepen their knowledge of Buddhism, and their understanding of how to practice it. They generally include a talk and discussion, a social cup of tea and meditation.
