Intro to meditation and Buddhism

The Buddhist world and where the Auckland Buddhist Centre fits in

Vairocana Buddha turning the wheel of the Dharma

This class is the place for newcomers to the Auckland Buddhist Centre to learn meditation and the basics of Buddhism.

TONIGHT: The Buddhist world and where the Auckland Buddhist Centre fits in
This week we look at the context in which we practice at the Auckland Buddhist Centre. You may already have a sense of difference within the Buddhist community - different coloured robes, no robes and so on. This evening will give you an overview of the wider Buddhist world and its historical development, as well as where our centre sits within it. We'll also be learning a key meditation practice in the Buddhist toolkit for transforming your life and world - the metta bhavana.

These sessions are part of a rolling 11-week introductory programme. You can join on any Tuesday night. Classes are designed as much as possible to stand alone for this purpose. But committing to all 10 nights over time will give you the thorough foundation you need to establish your own meditation practice, and step confidently into other classes and retreats.
