Intro to meditation and Buddhism

Buddhism and mindfulness

Vairocana Buddha turning the wheel of the Dharma

This class is the place for newcomers to the Auckland Buddhist Centre to learn meditation and the basics of Buddhism.

TONIGHT: Buddhism and mindfulness
This week we explore the different ways in which we can practise greater mindfulness. Mindfulness of self, other people, things and the nature of experience / reality itself. Simple to talk about, more difficult to practise, and we all have our strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots. It is about learning, changing. And Buddhism uses lists because they highlight and help us remember to direct our attention to areas we might need to work more on. This is one of those practical lists meant to be used for personal reflection and personal transformation.

This discussion will be supported by meditation instruction on the breath and / or body.

This class happens every Tuesday night at 7pm, even on public holidays. It's a rolling 11-week introductory programme. You can join on any Tuesday night. Classes are designed as much as possible to stand alone for this purpose. But committing to all 11 nights over time will give you the thorough foundation you need to establish your own meditation practice, and step confidently into other classes and retreats.
