You have to experience Sudarshanaloka to really get a sense of it. Literally the "Land of Beautiful Vision", the native forest rolls down the mountain sides to two swimmable rivers on the northern and southern boundaries. Beautiful, yes, and yet there seems more to it than that. Its affect on those who stay there, even for short periods, goes beyond the rational, certainly includes the physical, pretty much always the emotional, and most often the spiritual.
In the New Year retreat this year, spread over seven days (and yes, two years), we hope to invoke the spirit of the land AND the Mandala of the Five Jinas, who are Buddhist archetypal beings, ideals that you may well connect strongly to.
This is also a time of rest, recovery and sangha-building, and the retreat will incorporate time for connecting with others, with nature, as well as with whatever we might see as higher in ourselves.
Join Emma, Beth and Sthiraratna as we journey into the mandala in the mythic Sudarshanaloka landscape. You can expect some structured periods of meditation, puja and silence, as well as plenty of time for exploring the forest, river swimming, conversation, and individual or group activities.
Suitable for for those familiar with our meditation practices, even if at the early stages. A reasonable level of fitness will be needed.
$450 (low) / $490 (standard)
Youth special: $360 for those under 35 who are willing to camp (you'll need to bring your own camping gear)
We know times are tough for some. Please contact us for options as to how we might help you get on retreat.
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
