Dharma Monday

Tuning in and tuning up your practice

sun through a leaf

This evening is part of a three week series on tuning in and tuning up your meditation practice. Each evening we will have a particular emphasis to help develop calmer, more concentrated and positive states of mind.

This will be the final evening in the current theme and with some guidance from Karunajoti we'll be focusing on cultivating greater compassion and empathy for ourselves and others. Karunajoti will be fresh off a two week retreat where the focus will be on the ‘heart’ as a doorway to love and beauty. This will be an evening of sharing her inspirations from that retreat and meditating together using techniques and exercises to deepen our own experience and practice of compassion.

A man (or woman), to be greatly good, must imagine intensely and comprehensively; he must put himself in the place of another and of many others. The pains and pleasures of his species must become his own. The great instrument of moral good is the imagination; and poetry administers to the effect by acting upon the cause.
Percy Bysshe Shelley

Dharma night is suitable for those who would like to learn more about Buddhism. It is also a popular night for regular friends to drop in and practice together. If you are a beginner but can't get to/or have just started one of our meditation classes, you are still welcome to come and join in.

The usual program for the evening is a talk on some aspect of Buddhism, tea break, then group meditation to end the evening.
