Ethics: acting from the heart's wisdom

Yellow Buddha

Most of us know that human decency & kindness are what makes a society livable, but we rarely do we realise the full implications of ethics. For Buddhism, the heart of any ethical framework is loving-kindness. It is what makes meditation, compassion and the development of wisdom possible.

In this five week series, we explore the Buddhist ethical guidelines called the Five Precepts via personal experience of people who are trying to apply these in their life.

Mindfulness
On this evening Purna will be talking about the fourth ethical guideline or precept which is:
'With mindfulness clear and radiant, I purify my mind...'

After the talk there will be a farewell ritual for Meera Vig as she goes forth on her ordination journey to Akashavana, a Triratna retreat centre, in Spain.

Dharma night is suitable for those who would like to learn more about Buddhism. It is also a popular night for regular friends to drop in and practice together. If you are a beginner but can't get to/or have just started one of our meditation classes, you are still welcome to come and join in.
