Daytime meditation and Buddhism

Open to newcomers

Group of friends at the Auckland Buddhist Centre (ABC)

This daytime class is the place to become familiar with and practice our two core meditation practices, as well as develop an understanding of Buddhism as we practice it within our tradition.

Start any Tuesday morning. No bookings needed.

For newcomers and those with some experience alike, the class with give you a grounding in Buddhism and meditation, and how we practice it here at the centre.

What will you learn?

  • two key meditation practices: the mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana (cultivation of loving-kindness)
  • what karma is and isn't
  • Buddhist ethics
  • what positive emotion means and how we develop it
  • mindfulness within the Buddhist context
  • the nature of Reality: conditioned co-production, impermanence, and related teachings
  • how we get stuck in unhelpful patterns and habits, and how to break free
