Buddha Day puja

A ritual to celebrate the Buddha

Aloka Buddha

Puja is a form of devotional ritual that is especially inspiring when done with others. When we take an opportunity to gather and let go into the beauty of the shrine, mantra, readings, offerings and collective practice, we can experience a kind of spiritual uplift that is often difficult to describe.

Today is the nearest Saturday to Buddha Day, traditionally associated with the Buddha's birth almost 2,600 years ago, which is celebrated with great devotion across the whole Buddhist world. It is a special occasion when we celebrate the historical Buddha's life and teachings, reflect on what the Buddha's way and ideal mean to us today, and respond to the Buddha’s invitation to follow him with our own commitment and gratitude.

Please join us for a traditional Buddhist puja this Saturday night. Open to everyone - if you're new, feel free to just soak up the atmosphere and simply participate to the degree you wish to.
