Akshobhya puja & mitra ceremony

Entering the mandala - at dawn

Akshobhya by Aloka

Please join us for a very special dawn event. Ananda is becoming a mitra on this day, committing to practice within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. We'll have her ceremony in the context of a puja dedicated to Akshobhya, the first of five archetypal Buddhas from what is known as the mandala of the five Buddhas.

As we begin practising in our newly renovated centre, we are establishing this mandala at the centre, setting up a mythic context for practice.

Each of the archetypal Buddhas is associated with, amongst other things, a time of day. Akshobhya is associated with dawn.

For those who have not attended one before, puja is a form of devotional ritual that is especially inspiring when done with others. When we take an opportunity to gather and let go into the beauty of the shrine, mantra, readings, offerings and collective practice, we can experience a kind of spiritual uplift that is often difficult to describe.

Open to everyone - if you're new, feel free to just soak up the atmosphere in our beautiful new centre, and simply participate to the degree you wish to.

Please arrive promptly for a 7am start, and bring a plate of something that can pass as breakfast food (pastries? fruit?) for us to share at the end of the ritual
