Stupa 19th Anniversary

Celebrate the Stupa at Sudarshanaloka

Sudarshanaloka Stupa

The Stupa at Sudarshanaloka is one of many within the Triratna Buddhist community. And within many of these stupas are contained some of the ashes of Dhardo Rinpoche who was one of Sangharakshita's eight main teachers and a good friend.

Visit this Flickr site to see some images of different stupas around the Triratna world.

When the Stupa was originally dedicated Sangharakshita suggested that we celebrate the life of Dhardo Rinpoche, the Triratna Order, the wider Triratna Buddhist community and the glorious project of Sudarshanaloka each year on the Stupa's dedication anniversary. This is what we try to do.

Sudarshanaloka Stupa Day 2016

We’ll be celebrating the 19th anniversary of the dedication of the stupa at Sudarshanaloka on the weekend of 13-14 February this year. Everyone is welcome from 5pm on Saturday with the formal celebrations starting up at the new retreat centre at 10.30am on Sunday.

We’ll be remembering and rejoicing in Sangharakshita’s main teachers with readings and reflections, and will have a puja at the stupa, dedicated to Dhardo Rimpoche. This will be followed by a shared lunch at the house. Please bring vegetarian food to share.

If you’d like to come from Saturday night please contact the Sudarshanaloka community so we can ensure we have enough food for you. The cost for an overnight stay is $28. Otherwise, come on Sunday, arriving at the house by 9.30am so there’s time to get to the upper retreat centre for a 10.30 start. Children are welcome.
