The Stupa at Sudarshanaloka is one of many within the Triratna Buddhist community. And within many of these stupas are contained some of the ashes of Dhardo Rinpoche who was one of Sangharakshita's eight main teachers and a good friend.
Visit this Flicker site to see some images of different stupas around the Triratna world.
When the Stupa was originally dedicated Sangharakshita suggested that we celebrate the life of Dhardo Rinpoche, the Triratna Order, the wider Triratna Buddhist community and the glorious project of Sudarshanaloka each year on the Stupa's dedication anniversary. This is what we try to do.
Meet at community house at 10am for greetings and an introduction followed by a talk on "Building the Stupa in the Land of Beautiful Vision" by Andrea Gill.
At 12.30pm we will make our way to the Stupa for a Metta Remembrance Meditation and guided reflective walk around the Stupa environment. Short rituals will take place at Shrine sites.
The day will conclude at 3pm.
You are also invited to join the community on Saturday 14th February to do work around the Stupa between 2-4pm. Bring water, hat, gardening gloves and implements. If you want to stay for the weekend please let the Sudarshanaloka community know in advance as space is limited.
