TONIGHT: The Mandala of the five Buddhas

Enlightenment cannot be taught, we are told, it has to be experienced to be understood. But if we have no idea what it is, how can we work our way towards experiencing it?

Into this experiential gap arises the Mandala of the 5 Buddhas. Each of the 5 Buddhas embodies a quality of the enlightened mind. By getting to know each of these Buddhas, visualizing them, chanting their mantras, we can cultivate within our hearts and minds the quality of enlightenment they represent.

In this way, we begin to experience a total transformation of our consciousness. The Mandala then becomes a visual, aural, mythical and symbolic roadmap for Enlightenment itself.

Tonight Vajrasarasi will introduce us to the Mandala. She will discuss

  • What is a mandala and how it is important for spiritual development
  • Who are the 5 Buddhas and what qualities they represent
  • How the mandala has helped her make spiritual progress

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it.
