The Buddha's parinirvana
with Amaradipa
This story tells of the Buddha's death. Some texts suggest this was a result of food poisoning, while others state the Buddha gave up his body to old age. What he attained on his death is referred to as his 'parinirvana' - the state of an enlightened being who will never again be reborn. There are a number of mysteries surrounding the idea of parinirvana. Especially for those of us raised in traditions that emphasise an afterlife, the idea of attaining nirvana and a deathless state is shrouded in mystery.
Amaradipa will recount the story of the Buddha's passing and shed some light on the mystery of parinirvana.

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching.
Each evening will include a meditation, a short teaching and a chance to reflect with others on the meaning of the teaching for our lives.
