Right Mindfulness - holding the balance
This evening's subject from the Noble Eightfold Path is Right Mindfulness, for which you could also substitute the term awareness or even recollection. In regard to the last simile, we're talking about recollection of purpose. When it comes to the Eightfold Path, we want to have a sense of where we are, where we have come from , and where we are going (Right Vision). Without this sort of ongoing and integrated view of ourselves and the world, we will not be able to navigate the course.
In it's highest sense, "Perfect Mindfulness" is awareness of reality, and we use Right Mindfulness along with the other vehicles of transformation of which the Path consists, to get there.
This evening, we welcome Sujiva who will share his thoughts and experience of working with mindfulness, at both a theoretical and experiential level. What exactly is it? Why is it important? How do we develop it?
Join us as we look to work through these questions, and more!
Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it. They generally include a talk and discussion, followed by a cup of tea and then a meditation. Note that we are temporarily meeting at the Ponsonby Community Centre while we find a new permanent home for the centre.
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
