We continue tonight our series on dana (generosity). Generosity is an important practice in Buddhism, being the second of five ethical precepts (or training principles) that as Buddhists we try to keep in mind, and also the first practice or perfection of a Bodhisattva.
We welcome back Cittamuni this evening after being away due to a full time teaching gig in the first school term of the year. It is therefore very fitting that he will speak on giving education, and particularly the Dharma. The Buddha said that the most generous act of giving is teaching the Dharma, and Cittamuni will explore why as part of his talk tonight.
Cittamuni has many years of experience teaching young children, and as you will have experienced if you have been to one of his many Dharma talks over the years, his words are heart-felt. ("Citta" means heart-mind, "muni" means sage.) So join us tonight to listen, discuss and reflect on the generosity of teaching in general and sharing the Dharma in particular, while connecting with others.
Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community, deepen their knowledge of Buddhism, and their understanding of how to practice it. They generally include a talk and discussion, a social cup of tea and meditation.
By donation (suggested $15). (Cash or EFTPOS)
Nothing to spare tonight? Come along anyway. You’re always welcome.
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
