Sangha night

Reflecting on the Brahma Viharas

Community pictures

For the last four weeks, we have followed the theme of the Brahma Viharas, a series of "heart" practices that connect us with positive emotion. Specifically, they are metta (loving kindness), karuna (compassion), mudita (empathetic joy) and upeksha (equanimity).

Tonight is "reflections night" and we have invited two sangha members, Wendy Moore and Maddy Pyne, to reflect on the series as they experienced it, and describe the points that stood out for them, and the responses they evoked.

Wendy is a "mitra" and Maddy is to become a mitra at a ceremony in the very near future (scroll down to see what a mitra is). We are delighted to have them share their responses tonight, a way of taking us further into the theme. Recordings of each of the talks they will be reflecting on will be published at https://aucklandbuddhistcentre.org/talks soon after each talk is given.

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community, deepen their knowledge of Buddhism, and their understanding of how to practice it. They generally include a talk and discussion, a social cup of tea and meditation.
