Our Parinirvana celebration marks the final passing away of the Buddha. His death came when he was eighty years old and had spent some forty years teaching after his Enlightenment. As we acknowledge his passing some 2500 years ago, we draw inspiration from his example and affirm our own potential to follow in his footsteps. We also take the opportunity to reflect on the central Buddhist teaching of impermanence.
This evening, centre president Nagabodhi, who is visiting from the UK, will lead the celebrations. He will give some of his reflections on the significance and meaning of the Buddha's Parinirvana and then lead a contemplative puja (ritual).
People are welcome to bring a photo of a loved one who has recently passed away, to be placed on the shrine as part of the puja.
All welcome.
By koha / donation.
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
