Dhammakumara was recently appointed to the position of Young Buddhist Coordinator for Australia and New Zealand. He comes to us from the UK and was ordained in 2017 at the age of 25 years. He is currently the youngest Order Member in the Triratna Buddhist Order. Dhammakumara is a Pali name which translates as Prince of the Dhamma.
We're really looking forward to Dhammakumara's visit to New Zealand and to his first public talk at the ABC where he will share a story that is close to his heart.
Yasa: The millionaire Bhikku
The story of Yasa - the young man who after a house party became repulsed with his own life and then after coming across the Buddha became the first - besides the five ascetics - disciple of the Buddha and then converted 50 of his friends.
Dharma night is suitable for those who would like to learn more about Buddhism. It is also a popular night for regular friends to drop in and practice together. If you are a beginner but can't get to/or have just started one of our meditation classes, you are still welcome to come and join in.
The usual program for the evening is a talk on some aspect of Buddhism, tea break, then group meditation to end the evening.
