Dharma night is suitable for those who would like to learn more about Buddhism. It is also a popular night for regular friends to drop in and practice together. If you are a beginner but can't get to/or have just started one of our meditation classes, you are still welcome to come and join in.
The program for the evening is a talk on some aspect of Buddhism, tea break, then group meditation to end the evening.
Training our minds in Compassion is a very personal thing, we all have a different history, different parents, different experiences. And at the same time, there is something universal about the human predicament we find ourselves in. We can talk to others about our experiences and even though they might not have exactly the same experience, they can relate to our situation and provide support. Our human situation is both unique and common at the same time. As a result, our training in compassion needs to recognize our particular situation in history while also honoring the long tradition of spiritual advice which has been accumulated over the ages. Tonight's talk will address this tension and present some contemporary pithy training sayings for us to consider.
