This is our last night in our series on the Bodhisattva Ideal. But, if this is going to be your first visit to our Monday nights ... don't let that stop you. We'd still love to have you along.
Over the past five weeks, we've had some personal reflections from Akshobini and Akasasri, heard about the six perfections as the Dharma practise which characterises a Bodhisattva, tried to connect these with the five aspects of Dharma practise we've been learning since the start of the year ... and we will be ending this series of evenings on a more mythic, symbolic note.
Akshobini is going to present the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara: the Bodhisattva of Compassion.
Avalokitesvara manifests the Bodhisattva Idea. And when considered in his thousand armed form, each of his arms has an eye which sees clearly what is needed in addition to holding in each hand this thing that is most needed. Representing the great sensitivity coupled with the appropriate giving of the bodhisattva.

The Bodhisattva Ideal is something that has inspired generations of Dharma practitioners. It has been carried from one country to another without losing its appeal. After all, who cannot be moved my the ideal of wise active compassion?
Whether or not the Bodhisattva Ideal will flower in the soil of the Auckland Buddhist Centre is still to be found out. But, if you want, you can choose to be part of that flowering, part of our collective response to the world's suffering, offering a solution which is universally and eternally relevant to all people, in all times, and in all circumstances.
Come join us for these Monday night sessions. Meet like-minded people to have those deeper discussions about life which are so difficult to sometimes find. And on this particular evening, perhaps you'll meet Avalokitesvara?
The evening starts in the shrine room and ends a little after 8pm. After that, you are welcome to stay for a cup of tea, ask further questions, and talk more about Buddhism.
Dharma Night is suitable for everyone, regardless of their level of experience or exposure to Buddhism. If you like what you find we recommend that you sign up for one of our introductory Buddhist meditation courses. These courses provide a systematic introduction to Buddhist meditation practise.
