At the heart of Triratna is the Bodhisattva Ideal – the aspiration and heartfelt wish to benefit others and the commitment to act in ways that help all beings to thrive. Many of us in Triratna are engaged in this by sharing the Dharma at our city based Buddhist centres, retreat centres and practice groups, as well as through our work and the way we live our lives.
Beneficial Action Month, also known as Buddhist or Bodhisattva Action Month is an opportunity to reach out and engage with friends or local communities in ways that we may not be able to do for the most part during the year. ‘BAM’ is an invitation for one month to take part and get involved in actions that express our care and concern for our planet and our environment – for all living beings that exist on it – in a practical way.
Join us for BAM 2017 to help raise awareness, to share and discuss concerns, hopes and ideals, and to put into action concrete steps that help advance a positive vision for the future - whether within our local communities or the global community!
Our month of exploring beneficial actions launches with a night of talks on veganism, conscious layers (textile and clothing recycling) and the Buddhist Recovery Network. We will have guest speakers from the community for each topic.
Dharma night is suitable for those who would like to learn more about Buddhism. It is also a popular night for regular friends to drop in and practice together. If you are a beginner but can't get to/or have just started one of our meditation classes, you are still welcome to come and join in.
The usual program for the evening is a talk on some aspect of Buddhism, tea break, then group meditation to end the evening.
