Life is often seen as a journey which leads us from one destination to another. In fact this constant ‘moving along’ (either aimlessly or with full gusto) is so embedded in the human psyche that often we aren’t even consciously aware of where we are heading or why we are getting there in the first place. We can just amble along quite happily (or unhappily) for years without ever reflecting on where we are heading in life and the potential that lies dormant in our un-awakened state. This can also be true of our “Buddhist" life - cruising perfunctorily along the Dharma Road as the years drift by without really consciously engaging with our spiritual aspirations.
In this series of talks speakers will share their reflections on the turning points on their Dharma Road as a Mitra (a friend) or as an Order Member practicing in the Triratna Buddhist Community. In particular they will discuss how they became aware of a need to consciously choose a road to travel on, what led them to choose this particular Dharma Road and any differences they may have noticed upon committing to the deepening of their practice by becoming a Mitra, a GFR Mitra or an Order Member.
On this first evening Mark Templeton and Camilla Grundy will be sharing their turning points on the Dharma Road.
Dharma night is suitable for those who would like to learn more about Buddhism. It is also a popular night for regular friends to drop in and practice together. If you are a beginner but can't get to/or have just started one of our meditation classes, you are still welcome to come and join in.
The usual program for the evening is a talk on some aspect of Buddhism, tea break, then group meditation to end the evening.
