Awakening to Beauty

Open to all Order members and mitras

eros and psyche

“Perhaps Buddhists have not made enough of beauty; they’ve been (perhaps) afraid of it”
Sangharakshita in seminar

When the Buddha was accused of seeing the universe as ugly he responded with the words: “Whenever one reaches up to the Release called the Beautiful, then he knows indeed what Beauty is”.

During the retreat we’ll be exploring the relevance and importance of beauty in the spiritual life as taught by Bhante in his communication of the Dharma. There will be short presentations followed by exercises, and group discussions designed to develop our awareness of and appreciation of beauty.

This retreat will be led by Abhaya who is a senior member of the Triratna Buddhist Order. It is exploring the same material as the 'Eros and Beauty' discussions and retreats that have been happening in the UK over the past few years.
