Gearing up for the end of the year can be a stressful and distressing time for many, and that's on top of a year that has already proven to be unpredictable and challenging. In this series of talks we will focus on the ancient techniques taught by the Buddha to calm the mind and bring a peaceful heart to our circumstances.

Transforming strong emotions

Often the only time we have to process our emotions is when we wake with a start at 2am or when we meditate and painful feelings make themselves known. Feelings of separation, despair, anxiety and hatred are visible in the world around us, and also within our own internal landscape.

Mary Anna will discuss her own experience of managing overwhelm in the meditative space as well as provide some practical activities that we can use in our day to day lives to transform big feelings into compassionate awareness.

Throughout this series on the mindfulness of breathing we will:

  • focus on how to manage uncertainty and languishing
  • discuss how to support our mental health and well-being
  • introduce practical activities which can be done throughout the day to increase emotional resilience

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it.
