Sangha night

Metta Bhavana - let the flood-gates open

Community pictures

This evening, Mary Anna will share her thoughts and experience of the second stage of the Metta Bhavana, that of loving kindness for a good friend. In this stage, we are trying to contact and involve whatever positive emotions and energies are already within us, allowing them to flow by bringing them more into consciousness, and then developing them further.

The idea of this stage is that we build a platform of metta that we can carry through to the other stages that we will be talking more about as this Sangha night series on the Metta Bhavana practice progresses.

Mary Anna will be known to many of you. She is an enthusiastic supporter of Sangha Night, and has just rejoined the Sangha Night team after study conflicts meant she was not able to contribute for much of this year. Mary Anna is a very experienced mitra who is studying for ordination, and is also an ikebana flower arranger, which you may recall from our Grey Lynn centre where her creations were often on display.

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community, deepen their knowledge of Buddhism, and their understanding of how to practice it. They generally include a talk and discussion, a social cup of tea and meditation. Note that we are temporarily meeting at the Ponsonby Community Centre until we get our new centre in Mt Eden suitably prepared for these events.
