Right Speech - Communicating with the Vision in mind
Continuing our current theme of the Noble Eightfold Path, we look at Right Speech this week. Speech or verbal communication is something we engage in all the time. But what is the quality of our speech? Not in terms of good grammar or volume (though these may be important). Rather, in terms on the effect it has - both on the listener and ourselves. And what changes might we need to consider if we are to be consistent with our spiritual aspirations outline in Right Vision.
This evening, we welcome Mary Anna who will share her thoughts and experience of working with verbal communication as both a speaker and a listener. Is being truthful sufficient to be counted as Right Speech? Or does the friendliness with which we communicate, the timing, the helpfulness also contribute? What if we choose not to speak?
Join us as we look to work through these questions, and more!
Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it. Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
