Your legs twitch. You cannot keep still. You are longing to get off the cushion and do something, anything. Your mind is planning your week, your next meal; it's rehearsing a difficult conversation, thinking about a bold career move, wondering what you'll do in your vacation and imagining what could go wrong with all of it in excruciating detail.
This is how the hindrance of Anxiety and Restlessness shows up in meditation. It is characterised by a preoccupation with future activity. Being caught up in this swirl of planning prevents us for being able to be present to what is unfolding right now, right in front of us.
Tonight Amanda will talk about her experience with this hindrance and what has worked best in her practice. Afterwards there will be an opportunity for discussion and refection.
This is part of our current series on 5 classic hindrances to practice.
Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it.
