Right Livelihood - connecting with the wider society
Continuing our current theme of the Noble Eightfold Path, we look at Right Livelihood this week. Social and economic factors are a huge influence on most people, and we often lead split lives. For example, we might have a working life, and we might have home life. That's understandable, and logistically and psychologically necessary in many situations. But when our work becomes so separate from the way we prefer to lead our home life, then major personal conflict can occur, with repercussions for family, friends and spiritual life.

This evening Cittamuni will share his thoughts and reflections on the idea of Right Livelihood. He will talk about what Right Livelihood is from his point of view, and giving examples from personal experience, will illustrate the importance to a spiritual practice of navigating our economic and social lives in fulfilling, ethical and supportive ways.

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it. They generally include a talk and discussion, followed by a cup of tea and then a meditation. Note that we are temporarily meeting at the Ponsonby Community Centre while we find a new permanent home for the centre.
