Tonight: 5 hindrances or barriers

Want to experience deep feelings of connection in your meditation? Sublime happiness and bliss? True contentment? All this is possible within the practice of meditation. The reasons we don't experience it, or only for short glimpses, is that our meditation is clouded and obscured by barriers created by our own minds. If we remove these barriers, we can experience the happiness we long for.

In Buddhism, these barriers are known as "The 5 Hindrances."

In this series of talks which starts tonight, we will:

  • focus on the barriers which prevent us from experiencing the happiness available to us
  • learn to identify which barriers are holding us back in any given moment
  • experiment with a variety of techniques to work with our barriers
  • create a personal tool-kit of effective strategies to transform our obstacles into opportunities to deepen our practice

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it.
