TONIGHT: The Fifth Precept - Mindfulness
I undertake to abstain from taking intoxicants. / With mindfulness clear and radiant, I purify my mind.

Many of us have ways in which to ‘take the edge off” life. Some of these ways may be simple acts of kindness and generosity to ourselves, to give us a lift. Others may be less beneficial as we seek to anaesthetise ourselves from painful experiences with drugs and alcohol. Vajrasarasi will explore intoxicants and all the ways in which we try to escape from the realities of life.

More broadly, intoxicants include anything which consumes us in an unskillful way. Vajrasarasi will show how developing a kindly awareness towards all the different emotional and mental states brings us freedom and peace. She will also show that allowing ourselves to get caught up and carried away takes us away from our capacity to be in the present in our lives. By cultivating a clear and radiant mind, we allow joy and happiness to arise.

Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it.
