TONIGHT: The Fourth Precept - Truthfulness
I undertake to abstain from false speech. / With truthful communication I purify my speech.
Lying is easy. Maybe we want to embellish a good story and exaggerate or alter details, maybe we leave out important details when a full account is called for: so many ways in which to omit or alter the truth. It’s easy to convince ourselves that it’s harmless, but the reality is that every lie clouds our ability to see things as they are. Every lie dulls any sense of clarity we might have if we only dealt in truths.
Tonight Malcolm will explore lying versus truthful communication using examples from his own life.
Wednesday nights are a place for people who have attended our foundation courses to come together and celebrate community as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Buddha's teaching, and their understanding of how to practice it.
