We lodged the building consent with Auckland Council this morning - the culmination of a lot of work by James at Stevens Lawson architects, who has worked hard to find good contractors who can work within our budget and patiently chased them up to provide the necessary documentation.
A specific example would be the effort it's taken to source a good mechanical engineer at the right price that can also provide the necessary certifications for the city council. This took longer than we'd hoped, but putting in the hours on this took us less than $1,000 over our architecture budget while saving us tens of thousands of dollars on the overall project. A big thank you to James!
And fingers crossed for a smooth ride through council.
47 artworks have been donated by many generous folk to help raise funds via an art 'sale'. [The exhibition opens October 19.]() A big thanks to Sue Reidy, who is spearheading this effort with professionalism, patience and her wonderful energy. And of course, a big thanks to our donors!
The soma soundscape event over the weekend raised $665. Thanks to Emma for organising, Danica for contributing her considerable talents, and everyone who attended.
We also raised an additional $2,980 via GiveALittle over the last week.
As of today, we have raised a whopping $98,367 towards our total target.
Our target is big - $250,000 in total, but to put this in perspective, we have a funding gap of just 14% left. That takes some explaining, yes?
Total cost of project (includes costs of closing centre during build): $1,100,000
Amount already saved and sourced before we started our fundraising: $800,000
Total raised so far via fundraising: $98,367
Total still needed: $151,633 or 14% of the total project cost.
