What's happened with the renovation project at the ABC over the last week?
This week, Emma and Suvarnadhi met with our architects to look at flooring and wood samples. We have sourced some tiles at less than a quarter of the price we were anticipating - thanks to Nick and James at Stevens Lawson for finding them and placing them on hold for us!
We also chose the wood to be used through the shrine room floor, on the batons around the walls and in the foyer cabinetry. It's light and beautiful, and should add a natural element to the overall feel.
Sthiraratna and Suvarnadhi met with James and Rose from Crate. They're looking over the plans at present and drawing up a schedule of work. The team at Crate has a really great feel for this project as a community building opportunity (we might find ourselves on the end of a paintbrush or hammer on occasion, with James overseeing us), and a delightful ease around us supplying some of the materials ourselves (where it can save us money and makes sense to do so).
It's pretty much unheard of for any building consent to make it through council without further requests for information and subsequent delays. So realistically, we're looking at a tentative start date more around November 18 at this stage (anything could happen, so this is a tentative date).
