When our centre manager of 10 years, Karunajoti, left to take up a new role of retreat host at Sudarshanaloka in October 2021, many of you generously contributed towards her parting gift.
The gift we asked you to contribute towards was the refurbishment of Amida Hut, to make it a suitable full-time living and working space for Karunajoti.
Thanks to your financial generosity and the practical help of several sangha members, this work is now complete and Karunajoti has moved in! The centre council also contributed some funds from a bequest towards this project, as we knew having a retreat host at our main retreat centre would benefit our whole sangha.
There is a new solar power system, satellite internet, an upgraded kitchen with more storage capacity, a fridge and a new gas stove and oven. Some other timely maintenance work was completed, too.
Particular thanks go to Guhyavajra (project management and building), Fraser, Colin, Ben, Will and Dhiraprabha, who all worked on the refurb. Karunajoti helped out too (the inset picture above shows her preparing the mosquito nets for the windows).
Karunajoti is in heaven in her new abode and thanks you heartily. Read her full letter here.
