Come walk with us! We’re raising funds for our beautiful new Centre in Normanby Rd. Here is an exciting fund raising activity, for you, your friends and whanau: come and explore three of Auckland's volcanic peaks with us.
We’ll walk from The Buddhist Centre to the summit of Mangawhau, Mt Eden, then across to the summit of Maungakiekie, One Tree Hill, then across to summit Ohinerau, Mt Hobson, then back to the Buddhist Centre. We will have a planned route to keep us off the main roads as much as possible.
This walk is around 12km and we expect it to take around four hours. We will have plenty of time to stop at the summits, take a short break, admire the views, and talk about the importance of each maunga to the iwi of Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland, and our connection as a sangha to them.
Planned date is 23rd November with a rainy day back-up of 24th November.
Entry fee is by donation starting from $20 for adults and $5 for kids. We encourage you to let your friends and family know of this walk to either join in or sponsor you by donation to the Auckland Buddhist Centre Give a Little page.
So now is the time to begin your training (and your gathering of sponsors and friends if you like). Start with a daily walk and remember to include some hills!
By koha / donation - we suggest a starting point of $20 for adults and $5 for kids. It's a fundraiser though, so please give more if you can, and encourage your friends to join in or sponsor you via our GiveALittle page
Before attending, please read our current Covid Guidelines. This is part of how we practice together.
